Beautiful surroundings were there to greet our awakening on day 2; vineyard adorned hillsides, quaint chapels, splendid villas, and most importantly clear sunshine following torrential rain.
We left before breakfast but after the customary photo of bikes, surroundings and ourselves. A delightful Italian breakfast coffee was taken in the village of San Pietro, where locals were gathered, jovially sipping white wine and chatting noisily. We were made to feel welcome and even stayed to eat our own food for breakfast, in the lovely morning sunshine.
With the hour already approaching 12 as breakfast concluded, we would soon need to get some 'K's' under our belts, and so left full of energy. We proceeded and settled into a cruise through the picturesque valley where the Brenner pass lies, adjacent to lake Garda. Breaks were only had between nice runs of 30km, in mostly sunshine, and we reached Trento after a successful afternoon's rolling, eating quintessential delicious Italian pasta, and even watching part of the Tour de France.
We discovered the dedicated bike road on the way to Trento also, and contentedly proceeded on it to our eventual camping spot, a spontaneously chosen abandoned house (our confidence emboldened), surrounded by high corn crops, flanked by a dramatic (sheer wall) cliff of 800m.
The setting was immense; we were really starting to enjoy this adventure now, settling into that joyous rhythm of travel that inevitably comes with just a little time on the road. It's a great feeling....
